My painting is often characterised by an aesthetic formalism, where circular, organic motif's have been an element since the 1990's.
The work has often been described as imaging microscopic / macroscopic aspects of the world. This is one possibility. The multi layered, subtle shapes that characterise my work allow the viewer to make many connections and associations. I prefer not to close down the narrative in my work, this way interpretations are left open and the viewer can bring their own experience to the paintings.
I intuitively used my repertoire from years of painting as well as other new elements that started appearing recently, such as the gilded 'master stroke' (from the male Canon of painting), which is overlayed and interwoven with more 'femme' circular and oval shapes.
The continuous flow of experience and the dynamic nature of our reality is transmuted into my painted expressions.
