Vlad 13 is a work I have been evolving since 2015. The context of this group show at Bergman Gallery has provided a new idea for the work - the introduction of black pearls to Vlad's eyes and headpiece. A friend of mine is a pearl diver in Manihiki, and he gave my wife some black pearls several years ago.
